BEAUTIFUL BOOKS AND MUSINGS
'I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.' - Jane Austen (1775-1817)

Turning The Pages – Some Book Moments. For me, an afternoon spent in a book store turning the pages discovering some book moments is absolute bliss. Biographies, fiction, lifestyle, social history will just touch the surface of my book shelves. Each book that is highlighted I have either read, in the middle of reading, or waiting for my new copy to arrive. On an average I have six books in my sight that I am reading, looking at and learning from each week.
Do not expect a review – that is for you the reader to decide. I am simply sharing books that have captured my heart.

A CHANGING SOCIETY
Debs At War 1939-1945 – By Anne de Courcy. An extraordinary account – from firsthand sources – of upper-class women and the active part they took in the War. Pre-war debutantes were members of the most protected, not to say isolated, stratum of 20th-century society: the young unmarried daughters of the British upper classes. For many, the war changed all that for ever. This social history account will have you transfixed from the first page.
And once you have read Debs At War you will be reaching for more from Anne de Courcy. I know I have. A wonderful book is something you always return to.
