This is a story of beauty crafted from the belief in the healing power of a plant’s botanical extracts. Nicole O’Sullivan has pursued her love of clean beauty to give women skincare that is as potent as it is powerful. Nicole shares her journey and some of her life moments, and the story behind Wildcrafted Organics.

THE STORY BEGINS
What is the essence of the Wildcrafted Organics story? Coming from a background in Herbal medicine and nutrition I saw firsthand the incredible healing power of plants. Meanwhile my experience with mainstream beauty resulted in sensitive, problem skin and when I discovered clean beauty my skin became transformed. I started Wildcrafted Organics to combine my knowledge of Nutrition and herbs with Clean Beauty to create a concentrated, luxurious, nutritious collection that is as pleasurable to use as it is efficacious.
THE RITUAL INSPIRATIONS

What were your ritual inspirations when you started to develop the range?
To turn an everyday chore into an elevated skincare ritual. One that was pleasurable to use. To be something you look forward to doing at the end of a long day – a few moments of peace. We are all living such busy lives these days. I know myself being a mum to two boys and running a business that I do not have time to get a facial. I want to treat myself every day at home – the luxurious, pure scents of these products centres you.

A CIRCULAR BEAUTY
You are passionate about ‘Circular Beauty’ – explain a little more about this philosophy.
As the founder and creator of Wildcrafted Organics I feel responsible for minimising any waste produced by my business. Sustainability has always been at the forefront of every packaging choice we have ever made. And this is why we have chosen glass which is infinitely recyclable over any plastic bottles or jars.
We are committed to a ‘Circular Beauty’ model and to reducing our carbon footprint. We reduce, reuse, and recycle all our product packaging.
As sustainability practices keep evolving and developing, we will continue to challenge ourselves to find the best sustainability solutions. We take back all components of the packaging. We pay for the carbon neutral return shipping label. And we give a discount code to our customers to thank them for doing this.
The facts show that only 14 percent of beauty plastic bottles and jars are recycled. It is a scary thought that every piece of plastic made is still on our planet and will never break down.
THE BOTANICAL STORY

What do you look for in formulation innovation?
It is all about choosing innovative, clean bio-actives that have been scientifically evaluated and proven to improve the skin. And, surrounding them in a blend of nutritive organic and or wildcrafted botanicals that work synergistically to amplify these actives. An example of this is the Bakuchiol Serum. We have specfic actives chosen for their collagen regenerating properties – for example Bakuchiol, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate. These are added in organic oils such as Cacay and Rosehip which are full of natural retinol, vitamin C and antioxidants.

ALL ABOUT GLASS
The beauty industry is synonymous with excessive waste. I chose the highest quality ingredients to create my products and pouring them into cheap, toxic plastic containers was not an option. We use the highest quality bio photonic glass – Miron glass.
Miron’s violet glass also acts as a natural barrier for energy stored within the product itself, keeping it all inside. This prolongs the natural quality of the product. In scientific tests, when compared to other glass, plastic, or aluminium packaging, Minron’s violet glass has a significant better storage quality. And without using preservatives. The longer shelf life and the possibility to reuse and recycle, makes Miron glass the sustainable choice for Wildcrafted Organics.

HOME AND STYLE
Where do you call home? The Gold Coast. I grew up here, then left and only returned at the end of 2019 with my husband and two boys.
What florals make their way into your home? I do not buy cut flowers often and prefer potted flowers like Orchids. I have several and they all flower at various times, so I keep them on rotation. Plus, I love Olive trees. I am lucky to have a few and I will cut them back and put a big branch in a pot. And recently I started harvesting the olives.
What are you currently reading? I hate saying this, but I do not have time to read a book. I look forward to the days when I do. If I am reading it is research reading.
Style is personal – how would you describe your style and fashion label favourites? We all need to shop consciously. Now, I am more conscious of investing in quality pieces rather then throw away items. I love some of the conscious sustainable fashion labels that I am seeing now.
BEAUTY AND WELLBEING
Your daily skincare and wellbeing rituals? I start the day with a glass of turmeric lemon, honey, and hot water to reduce inflammation. Also, I take a walk every day and do selective weight training (not as often as I should). I have a collagen-based beauty drink – vitamin c / Hyaluronic acid every day. When it comes o food I enjoy healthy cooking, good company and a glass of a wine.
Balancing internal beauty with external beauty? As above – turmeric drink, collagen, Hyaluronic acid. I also take probiotics and I am naturally a healthy eater.
Your personal beauty solutions? I have always worn a mineral foundation with a natural SPF15. I wear a hat outside and look after the skin on my face. I am now noticing the effects that 52 trips around the sun have had on my body. Sun damage, pigmentation, and dehydration – so I now use sunscreen on my body most days.
What product do you not leave home without? An endless bottle of the Bakuchiol Serum.
